Speed reading with spreeder

Years ago I took an Evelyn Wood speed reading course to up my already-pretty-fast reading speed, and to try and satisfy my endless thirst for knowledge.

I'm not sure how fast i read now, but given the general intellectual decline of a person who is well past his prime, I'm sure it's down.

Spreeder has a product that's supposed to help with that. I'm not sure I'd pay the money to get it and I find the Spreeder web app kind of clunky, but interesting enough that I'm thinking about creating one that behaves the way that I'd like it to.
