Can we feed the world?
Some sources say yes.
There are nearly a billion people in the world who suffer from chronic undernourishment. The Food And Agriculture Organization reports on the situation in [this report on food insecurity.](http://www.fao.org/docrep/016/i3027e/i3027e00.htm)
> A total of 842 million people in 2011–13, or around one in eight people in the world, were estimated to be suffering from chronic hunger, regularly not getting enough food to conduct an active life. This gure is lower than the 868 million reported with reference to 2010–12. The total number of undernourished has fallen by 17 percent since 1990–92.
They also provide a [statistic yearbook](http://issuu.com/faooftheun/docs/syb2013issuu)
That's despite the population having grown substantially. So even though 842 million is a lot, it's a declining percentage.
